Position Description At the Flowserve Quick Repair Center in West Chicago IL, you will weld metal parts and components to repair pumps and decoking equipment used in industrial settings, such as refineries and factories. Analyze specifications, set up jobs, operate and maintain welding equipment. Verify quality of finished work. Collaborate with engineers and machinists to evaluate needs, troubleshoot problems, and recommend solutions. This is a second shift position.
Accountabilities Plan and lay out work from detailed assembly and installation blueprints and manufacturers specification sheets, using shop math and measuring instruments
Without additional supervision, select the appropriate welding method, and start and complete jobs
Perform plumbing and pipe-fitting welds to close tolerances, install and test welds
Develop and reverse-design piping systems and fixtures for reassembly and welding as required
Personally verify the quality of finished work, demonstrating an in-depth understanding of specifications and workmanship
Meet production goals relating to efficiency, schedules, and scrap and rework
Apply experience and knowledge to troubleshoot and correct process and equipment problems
Collaborate with machinists and assemblers on the team to discuss and solve problems relating to repairs and equipment
Record accurate, timely data on computer-based systems or in manual logs
Apply an understanding of the process flow of documents, materials, and parts through the repair or manufacturing process
Maintain a safe workplace by wearing PPE, following procedures and rules, and completing training
Clean and maintain machines and tools, and keep an organized workspace
Position Requirements 3
years welding experience in a manufacturing or repair environment, working with heavy metals such as 300 and 400 stainless steel, Inconel, and carbon steel
TIG, MIG and stick welding experience required
Knowledge to work to ASME Section IX required
Experience in using and interpreting precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges
Must be able to read and interpret blue prints and drawings
Able to define, evaluate, and discuss quality workmanship related to welding
Must be able to trouble-shoot and solve problems with welding processes and results
Must show a customer-service mindset at all times
Must be able to explain processes and problems clearly so as to resolve problems in a group
Standing for long times required, repetitive arm motions, frequent lifting with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
Demonstrated track record of reliable, dependable attendance; able to work overtime and weekends as required on short notice
High school diploma or GED equivalent required
