Position Overview
This position will play a key role in designing/drafting new products, along with improving current products using the latest in 3D software.
Performs complex and technically demanding design work.
Preempts potential problems and provides effective, cost conscious solutions.
Independently seeks solutions to complex and unusual problems, before contacting others.
Works well with others in a diverse multinational environment.
Responsibilities
Lead the completion of complex drawings to suit engineering changes, along with initiating engineering changes.
Guide the creation of the design layouts and detailed drawings of products.
Compilation of materials and specification sheets.
Determine dimensions/specifications necessary on the drawings for effective manufacturing.
Work closely with 3rd party sheet metal fabricators.
Design to cost (DTC) for cost-effective products and modifications, or improvements on existing products.
Ensure adherence to applicable industry standards and Customer standards/specifications.
Lead the investigations related to product design and maintenance.
Design/plan test programs and lead evaluation of prototypes.
Lead the selection of materials and evaluate of competitive products.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Associate's degree or 1-2 years of vocational technical training.
Software Skills- NX10, AutoCAD, Teamcenter, MS Office.
8 years of successful experience as a designer/drafter.
May provide expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and train lower level employees.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Design experience in plastic molded parts, stamped parts and sheet metal layout design.
Specialized skill training/certification.
